Hot Springs Police were contacted in reference to a complaint of stolen checks that had been forged by an employee.
The owner of the home healthcare business told police that he noticed several of his company checks had been written and cashed without his permission. After going over the books, he alleges that a total of 19 checks had been written to his employee, Jennifer H. Sokol, 64 of Oaklawn Street in Hot Springs, between 2/2018 – 8/2018, to the tune of $7,115.80.
The owner asked Ms. Sokol about the discrepancy. The report says that Ms. Sokol allegedly admitted to forging only 1 check and that she would just pay him back. The owner terminated her employment and contacted HSPD.
HSPD Detective Rines investigated the case. He was allegedly able to verify the complaint and follow the money into 2 bank accounts allegedly belonging to Ms. Sokol.
Arrest warrants were issued and on 11/16/2018 at 9:45AM, Det. Rines arrested Ms. Sokol at the Hot Springs Police Department. She was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. She is charged with Felony Forgery (x19) and Theft Of Property with a bond amount totaling $70,000.
