Arkansas State Police Corporal Steed and Trooper Margis investigated a traffic mishap on New Year’s Eve at the driveway to Bud’s Liquor on Highway 270 East.
The Dodge Ram truck was stuck on a steep embankment unable to get free. Called in as an injury (I thought motorcycle, initially) crash, the 911 Heroes arrived to find 2 allegedly intoxicated people in the vehicle.
The driver was administered Standardized Field Sobriety Testing at the scene. The troopers believed the driver, Kathy Urquhart, 63 of Malvern, to be intoxicated, arrested and charged her with DWI. She was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for further processing. Her passenger was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication. He made the trip to the GCDC as well.
Morning Star Fire Troops and LifeNet EMS Troops arrived quickly, but were not needed.
Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 40 minutes.
Driven Towing & Recovery took charge of the vehicle and removed it from the scene.
