Arkansas State Police Corporal Oseguera investigated a single vehicle DWI, hit & run crash Friday Afternoon.

Evidence at the scene showed that the white Ford Explorer SUV was traveling west through a heavy highway construction zone when it crossed the center line and struck a crash device which is affixed at the end of the Jersey Wall that separates oncoming traffic.  Upon impact, the crash device functioned correctly by collapsing and absorbing much of the energy the SUV was carrying into the collision.  After impact, the SUV continued a short distance and came to final rest in a controlled fashion on the left shoulder of the highway.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the driver jumped out and allegedly stated “don’t call the cops, I’ve been drinking”.  Then, when the driver heard the sirens coming, he allegedly ran from the scene on foot and got into a passing truck that pulled over to ‘aid and abet’.
