Hot Springs Police Officer Plummer was dispatched to a residence on Centerview Street last week for a disturbance around midnight. When Off. Plummer arrived, he allegedly found Lee Oliver Counts, 53, of Summer Street in Hot Springs, screaming loudly next to a red Chevrolet Avalanche.
Mr. Counts was allegedly claiming, at the top of his lungs, that the person who damaged his truck did so with a hammer and was inside the residence. Off. Plummer noticed that Mr. Counts allegedly smelled like he had consumed alcohol, had red, bloodshot, watery eyes, and slurred speech. Mr. Counts was allegedly asked more than 5 times to stop yelling, to which he allegedly did not comply. Off. Plummer placed Mr. Counts under arrest, and began to search him and his vehicle.
Officers allegedly located .8 gram cocaine, 2 Actavis pills, 6 Acetominophin and Hydrocodone Citartrate pills and a fake $100 bill in his wallet.
Mr. Counts’ truck allegedly contained a cold, spilled can of beer, and was towed from the scene.
Mr. Counts was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. Mr. Counts was read his Miranda Rights and questioned about the illegal items that were allegedly in his possession. Mr. Counts allegedly admitted that the $100 bill is a fake. When asked what type of drugs he allegedly had in his pockets at the time of his arrest, Mr. Counts allegedly replied that he had gotten a “$10 bag of snort”. He allegedly went on to say that he was having a bad time with his girl and he was going to take a snort. He made the gesture of inhaling with one nostril while holding his other nostril closed. When asked if the “snort” was cocaine ,Mr. Counts allegedly replied “yeah, but I ain’t about to out myself”.
Mr. Counts is charged with Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance x2, Felony Forgery, Possession Of A Controlled Substance and Public Intoxication with a bond amount totaling $10,000.
