When will I get my tax refund?
Garland County Sheriff’s K-9 Patrol Deputy Strickland responded to a single vehicle vs. pond situation where a minivan became partially submerged in a pond yesterday afternoon.
Evidence at the scene suggested that the minivan had been traveling east on Fleetwood Drive. When it approached the “T” intersection at West Pine Drive, the van shot through the stop sign, across West Pine Drive, traveled through a yard and drove into a pond adjacent to a house.
The driver was unable to get out of the vehicle under his own power. A neighbor came out of the house with a set of waders. Dep. Strickland put the waders on and went in to free the driver from the wreckage. He got the driver out and helped him walk through the water and deep mud back up to the shore.
Piney Fire Troops responded quickly and assisted as necessary including taking the tow truck cable into the pond and hooking it to the bottom of the minivan for recovery.
LifeNet dispatched an Ambulance Crew to the scene. They met with the driver and were evaluating him when I departed the scene. It is unknown to me whether he was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
The Arkansas State Police also assisted as needed.
