Evidence at the scene showed that the SUV was westbound when it exited the right side of the road, struck a utility pole, re-entered the pavement, crossed the roadway and struck the embankment on the left side of the road.  The vehicle came to final rest partially blocking the road.

When the SUV struck the utility pole, the pole snapped in half with the top portion remaining in place being suspended by the electrical lines connected to it.  This action at the utility pole started a grass fire that spread quickly.

Lake Hamilton Fire & Rescue Troops responded quickly and extinguished the fire.  They also assisted as necessary with the crashed vehicle and the patient.

LifeNet dispatched an Ambulance Crew to the scene.  At least 1 person was transported to the hospital.

Arkansas State Police also assisted as necessary.

Resort Cable Troop Adam was on scene early.  He assisted at the scene as necessary.

Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 1 hour.
