Car Ripped In Half; Fatal Crash On Chattanooga Street – HOT SPRINGS

When will I get my tax refund?

Hot Springs Police were dispatched to the area of Cypressvale Street near Chattanooga Street around 1 am for the call of gunfire this morning.  A caller reported that a vehicle was shooting at another vehicle.  What part this vehicle may have played (if any) in that report is not known to me.

When officers arrived at the intersection of Chattanooga Street at Fargo Street, they immediately said that they found a traffic crash with at least 1 person ejected from the vehicle and laying in the woods.

Evidence at the scene showed that the maroon sedan was traveling at a very high rate of speed when it crossed the center line, exited the left side of the pavement, crossed Fargo Street, hopped the curb, slammed into a tree and separated into 2 pieces with at least 1 of the occupants ejected from the vehicle at impact.  The rear half of the vehicle came to final rest against the tree it collided with and the front half of the vehicle continued east a short distance.

Hot springs Fire & Rescue Troops arrived quickly with a rescue truck and a fire engine.  They assisted with patient care, set a fire watch, provided a very bright work light array and cut into the wreckage to make sure no one was still trapped in the back seat area.

LifeNet dispatched 2 Ambulance Crews and the EMS Supervisor to the scene.  1 person with serious injury was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Garland County Duty Coroner Neighbors arrived and conducted the Coroner’s investigation.  He pronounced 1 person dead at the scene.  The body was transferred by the Coroner’s Van to a location unknown to me.

This intersection was closed for approximately 5 1/2 hours.
