All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
This is a wild tale that comes straight from witnesses at the scene. 4 witnesses told me the same story. Story not confirmed.
Yesterday Morning around 10AM, Hot Springs Police were dispatched to the Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant on Airport Road.
Police were responding to a suspicious vehicle call. The caller reported that the suspicious vehicle had been parked in the parking lot for a suspicious length of time. The occupants of the vehicle were reportedly wearing masks and had guns – which was all visible to anyone that walked through the parking lot.
HSPD Bosses Lieutenant Roach and Captain Hrvatin arrived very quickly and made contact with the vehicle. 1 person allegedly sprinted on foot northbound across the Simmons Bank Parking Lot with police chasing him. The suspect allegedly ran across Albert Pike and jumped a fence. HSPD set a perimeter and called in the K-9 Units, but the final disposition on that suspect is unknown to me.
HSPD arrested James Lewis Smith, 2nd, 27 of Hot Springs, who remained inside the vehicle when police arrived. He was transported to the Garland County Detention Center and charged with Simultaneous Possession Of Drugs & Firearms, Possession Of Meth With Purpose To Deliver, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia(x3) and Possession Of A Controlled Substance With Purpose To Deliver. He has no bond.
