All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs were notified of a kidnapping with gunfire that took place last week in the apartment complex on Lowery Street.
Hot Springs Police Officers were told that the victim was at home with her 2 juvenile daughters and 3 adults when her ex-partner, Sha’mara Rochelle Franklin, 23, of Autumn Street in Hot Springs, showed up and knocked on the door. The victim went to a bedroom and told the 10 year old daughter to answer the door.
The victim allegedly stated that she heard the suspect yelling to get the kids out of the apartment and then heard several gunshots. 1 of the adult friends ran into the bedroom with the victim and they blocked the door with the mattress. The suspect allegedly pushed her way into the bedroom and began firing shots at the friend. The friend ran out of the bedroom and exited the apartment.
The suspect allegedly told the victim to get her car keys because they were leaving. The suspect allegedly fired a round into the floor and told the victim to hurry up. The victim grabbed her keys and they both exited the apartment. On the way to the car, the victim saw several people on their cell phones. The suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the victim pulled her by her shirt and said “don’t make a scene or I will shoot you”.
They got in the car. The victim drove the suspect around and during this time, the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot the victim and herself. While driving around, the suspect would allegedly point the gun at her head and the victim’s stomach. They wound up on Washington Street where the car stopped and they both exited the car. The victim told the suspect that they could get back together if she got rid of the gun. The suspect put the gun in a tree and they got back in the car.
The suspect allegedly said “I shot (the friend at the apartment) and I’m going to jail for a long time”. The suspect then allegedly told the victim “if you drive me to (a location) on Autumn Street, so I can say goodbye to my son, I’ll turn myself in”.
HSPD Officers were already on Autumn Street looking for the vehicle when it turned the corner. The suspect allegedly exited the vehicle and tried to flee on foot, but was promptly arrested.
HSPD Officers went to the tree on Washington Street and found the silver, Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver allegedly used in the crimes.
The suspect is a convicted felon and may not possess a firearm legally.
5 fresh bullet holes were found in the victim’s apartment.
Ms. Franklin is charged with Felony Kidnapping, Felony Aggravated Residential Burglary, Felony Possession Of Firearms By Certain Persons and Felony Aggravated Assault x6..bond is not available.
