All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Corporal Roberson reports that he was dispatched to the 500 block of Malvern Avenue on June 4, 2020 around 10:55PM in reference to a battery complaint.
He arrived quickly and made contact with the victim, 63 years old. She said that she was at this location recently when Nelso Ponce, 32, homeless in Hot Springs, approached her and began yelling at her for no reason. As the victim yelled back at him, he beat her head and face with his fists. A witness said that Mr. Ponce fled the scene on foot. He went West on Grand Avenue.
Cpl. Roberson saw the injuries and took pictures of them.
CPl. Roberson headed that way and approximately 5 minutes later, located Mr. Ponce standing in a parking lot at Jefferson Street. He made contact with the suspect and the 2 spoke. Mr. Ponce said that he “kicked that bitch ass because she is a snitch”. Cpl. Roberson indicated in the arrest report that Mr. Ponce had the odor of intoxicants emitting from his body and his speech was slurred.
Mr. Ponce was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Battery with a $2,500 bond.
