All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Officer Rollins reports that officers were dispatched to WalMart on Central Avenue on February 20, 2021, around 9PM, for the call of theft.
Officers arrived and employees told them that a female was walking in the parking lot and concealing items in a backpack. Off. Rollins found the suspect walking in the parking lot, behind cars, with 2 bags. Officers stopped and detained the suspect, Emily Mackenzie Mattingly, 21, homeless in Hot Springs. She was no longer carrying the bags and said that she left items inside a bag, in side the store.
The 2 bags she was carrying were located in the parking lot several feet from where she was stopped. Ms. Mattingly’s pertinents were checked through the police computer. The check revealed that she was wanted out of court for Failure To Comply. She was arrested and searched.
During the search, officers found: 2 glass smoking pipes with burn marks and residue and .4 gram meth in a little baggie.
The bag Ms. Mattingly was using to conceal merchandise was located inside the store. It contained $165.07 worth of merchandise.
Ms. Mattingly was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. She is charged with Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft and the Failure To Comply Warrant was served. Bond was set at $7,500.
