All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police took a report in June 2019 of a stolen vehicle.  According to the report, Michael Edward Toombs, 28, of Cones Road in Hot Springs, allegedly took the victim’s 2002 Isuzu Rodeo (valued at $3,800) to Pine Bluff in order to drop off a lawnmower and pick up a door for the vehicle owner.

Michael Edward Toombs, 28, of Cones Road in Hot Springs – allegedly borrowed a mother’s SUV and sold it.

The vehicle had just been purchased and not registered yet.  The bill of sale and title to the vehicle were in the vehicle’s glovebox.

The vehicle was supposed to make the trip and come right back to the owner so she could take her child to school and then drive to work.

Mr. Toombs allegedly took the vehicle to a man, forged the owner’s name on the paperwork and sold the vehicle to the man.  That man turned around and sold the vehicle to another man.  That last man registered the vehicle in Arkansas.

A warrant of arrest for Felony Theft Of Property was obtained on Mr. Toombs.

HSPD ran into Mr. Toombs around the 1500 Block of Malvern Avenue on November 15, 2019 around 2:30PM.  They served the warrant on him at that point.

Mr. Toombs was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.  He is charged with Felony Theft Of Property with a bond set at $2,500.
