All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Officers Stockwell and S. Jones were on patrol in the area of Illinois Street on January 5, 2021, around 11PM, when they report that they stopped a 2008 White Ford Expedition, which was not displaying a license plate at Butterfield Street.
Officers made contact with the occupants of the SUV. Police checked the driver’s pertinents through the police computer. The check revealed that Cavonte S. Barney, 25, of Spring Street in Hot Springs, had 2 outstanding arrest warrants entered into the computer. The police also checked the passenger, Deshon J. Woodfork, 26, of Thornton Ferry Road in Garland County, through the police computer. That check revealed that Mr. Woodfork was currently on parole with a search waiver on file. Both were arrested and the vehicle was searched.
In the vehicle, officers found: loaded RG 40 .38 special revolver, 40 additi0nal rounds for the gun, digital scale, several empty plastic baggies and 3 plastic baggies containing 14 grams of cocaine.
Parolee Woodfork is a convicted felon and is prohibited by law from possessing a firearm in the state of Arkansas.
Both suspects were transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.
Parolee Woodfork is charged with Felony Simultaneous Possession Of Firearm And Drugs, Felony Possession Of A Firearm By Certain Person, Felony Possession Of Cocaine With Intent To Deliver and Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia. He was initially being held without bond.
