All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Sergeant Rostan reports that he was on patrol February 22, 2021, around 11PM, in the area of Trivista when he saw a dark primer colored Chevrolet Silverado pull from a church parking lot and got behind him. He noticed as he would slow down, the Silverado would slow down too. He pulled over and let the vehicle pass. It passed and the sergeant pulled back out onto Central Avenue behind the Silverado. The Silverado quickly turned onto Pond Street.
Sgt. Rostan turned on the blue lights and conducted a traffic stop on the Silverado on West St. Louis Street. He made contact with the driver. The driver did not have any ID on him. He gave the sgt. a name and date of birth. The set. was able to determine that this driver’s tattoos did not jive with the tattoos for the name the driver had given. The name was bogus. Well, it was a real person, but it was not THIS person. At this point, Parolee Travis Andrew Potts, 35, of Sentinel Road in Garland County, was arrested. Parolee Potts also showed to have a parole board arrest warrant outstanding.
Heather Nicole Barnett, 31, of Sentinel Road in Garland County, was the passenger in the Silverado. She may have been allowed to drive away in the truck, but after checking her pertinents, it was revealed that her driver’s license was in suspended status. So, she couldn’t drive. A wrecker truck was called to the scene.
Before police tow a vehicle, they generally inventory the valuables in the vehicle. Officers were inventorying the vehicle when they found a .4 gram baggie of meth on top of the center console. Neither occupant claimed the meth. Ms. Barnett was arrested and searched.
During the search of Ms. Barnett, officers located a syringe in her purse. Also found in the Silverado was: 2 digital scales with residue, small zip lock baggies and a baggie of marijuana (.5 gram).
Parolee Potts was searched. On him, officers found a wrench socket with burnt marijuana.
Parolee Potts and Ms. Barnett were transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.
Mr. Potts is charged with Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Obstructing Governmental Operations, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession Of A Controlled Substance with bond set at $5,000 and a parole hold has been placed.
