All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy Wagner reports that he was on duty near Blacksnake Road on January 2 around 3:26 am when he saw a black Mercury car travelling at high rate of speed.
The speed limit is 35 Mph and Dep. Wagner paced the vehicle at 45 Mph. Dep. Wagner ran the vehicle’s license plate information through his police computer and found that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Malvern. The car was valued at $5,000.
Dep. Wagner continued following the Mercury and saw it strike another vehicle on Mountain Pine Road. Dep. Wagner conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Jaqwese Walker, 18, of Ironwood Street in Hot Springs, who said he borrowed the vehicle from a friend and was on the way home. Dep. Wagner arrested Mr. Walker and transported him to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.
Mr. Walker is charged with Felony Theft By Receiving, Speeding, Careless And Prohibited Driving, No Driver’s License, No Liability Insurance, and his bond was set at $2,500.
