All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Federal Street Friday night for the call of a shooting that had just taken place. 2 people had been hit by gunfire and were on scene. The alleged shooter fled in a green GMC SUV.
HSPD Officers arrived quickly, set up the crime scene tape, began talking with witnesses and started the investigation. One of the first bits of info to surface was the identity of the alleged suspect and the description of the vehicle he allegedly drove away from the scene. The vehicle description was passed onto the Garland County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police.
Both shooting victims on scene were transported to the hospital by LifeNet Ambulance.
A Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy promptly went to the suspect’s residence in the 3500 block of Albert Pike Road. The deputy told dispatch that he located the alleged suspect vehicle. That word was quickly followed by him saying that the alleged shooting suspect was in custody.
The suspect, Antonio Ronchester Baker, 48, of Albert Pike Road in Garland County, had a gunshot wound to the arm at the time of his arrest. How the suspect wound up with a bullet hole in himself was not immediately clear and was not mentioned in the HSPD press release concerning this event.
Mr. Baker was transported by LifeNet Ambulance to the Hospital under guard. His injury was not considered life threatening. Once cleared by medical, he was transported to the Garland County Sheriff’s Department for processing. He is charged with Felony Battery x2 with bond set at $150,000.
