Alleged Repeat Offender Stopped By Civilian At Gunpoint; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Officer J. Baker reports the following:

On 8/3/19, at approximately 1545 hours, Officers responded to the 200 block of Spring Street in reference to a disturbance.  The information received was a male standing on the side walk with a gun.

I (Ofc Baker) arrived in the area.  I observed a white male wearing a black shirt, blue jean pants, and hat standing near the curb, holding a black male, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans at gunpoint.  The white male was identified as a witness. The black male was identified as Jemmerio Brown.

Jemmerio Tyrell Brown, 18, of Baily Place in Hot Springs – allegedly caught by a witness, entering a vehicle and stopped at gunpoint.

Upon further investigation, the witness advised that he, and friends, were inside the Great Escape building located at 202 Spring Street, on the second floor.  The witness advised that when he looked out the window, he observed Brown “sneaking” around a tan, 2007 Chevy Tahoe which belonged to his friend.  The Tahoe was parked on the curb adjacent to the building.  The witness further stated that Brown looked inside the vehicle then opened the door to make entry into the driver sesat.  The witness then ran down stairs and confronted Brown at gunpoint.  At that time, Brown was placed into custody.

A second witness saw Brown in the vehicle.  She also rushed down stairs to help witness #1 remove brown from the vehicle.

I (Ofc Baker) read Brown his Miranda Rights in the field, while he was sitting in the back of my patrol unit.  Brown advised that he understood his rights.  Brown was asked about the incident.  Brown admitted to being in the driver seat of the Tahoe.  Brown continuously kept apologizing for being in the vehicle.

Brown was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.  Handcuffs were checked for fit and double locked.  Brown is being charged with Breaking or Entering.
