Hot Springs Police Officer Ugartechea reports that he responded to Gibson Street on December 31, 2019 around 1:07 am in reference to an alarm going off.
Ofc. Ugartechea arrived on scene and saw Parolee Lonnie Hileman, 52, Homeless in Hot Springs, exit the residence and flee on foot towards the wooded area between Gibson Street and the Dodge Store. Ofc. Ugartechea ordered Parolee Hileman to stop, and chased after him, but he continued to flee.
Ofc. Ugartechea deployed his taser twice, but missed the first time and only made contact with Parolee Hileman’s pant leg the second time. Parolee Hileman continued fleeing and HSPD Officer Davis tackled him to the ground. Parolee Hileman refused to identify himself and was arrested and placed into the police vehicle.
Officers found a firearm containing a magazine with eight rounds on the ground beside Parolee Hileman. Ofc. Ugartechea ran the gun’s serial number through the police computer and found that the gun had been reported stolen out of Hot Springs.
Officers also found two knives, two multi tools, one small fold up knife, one screwdriver, one small flashlight, a small bag containing a set of wire cutters, and a test light on Parolee Hileman.
LifeNet responded to the scene and removed the taser probe from Parolee Hileman’s pant leg. LifeNet cleared Parolee Hileman for booking and he was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.
Parolee Hileman allegedly said that he had the gun to point at officers so they would kill him and he could avoid returning to prison or jail. Parolee Hileman identified himself at the detention center and said that he was on parole. Officers ran Parolee Hileman’s information through the police computer and found that he is a convicted felon. Officers searched Parolee Hileman’s clothing and found a small plastic bag containing 0.4 grams of methamphetamine.
Parolee Hileman is charged with Felony Simultaneous Possession Of Drugs And Firearms, Felony Residential Burglary, Felony Theft By Receiving, Felony Possession Of Firearms By Certain Persons, Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Fleeing On Foot, Resisting Arrest, and he is being held with no bond.
