Hot Springs Police Detective Branstetter reports that he responded to Regions Bank on Albert Pike last night where HSPD Patrol Officers were already investigating the scene of a burglary at the bank.

Items were scattered around the bank.  The rear glass door was broken ($1,000) and as he was rummaging, he knocked a check scanner unit off of the counter damaging it ($500).

Officers were in the middle of trying to gather evidence when a new burglary alarm came in from Citizen’s Bank on Airport Road (a few blocks west of this location).  Officers quickly responded to Citizen’s Bank.  They found a smashed door and a suspect running from the scene.  They quickly caught the suspect, identified as Parolee Alejandro H. Hernandez, 23, of Greenwood Avenue in Hot Springs.  Parolee Hernandez fit the description of the suspect caught breaking into the Regions Bank approximately 40 minutes earlier.

Parolee Hernandez was arrested and transported to the HSPD Criminal Investigation Division for questioning where he admitted to breaking the door and entering the bank to search for money.

Parolee Alejandro H. Hernandez, 23, of Greenwood Avenue in Hot Springs – allegedly went on a bank burglary spree last night.

Parolee Hernandez is charged with Felony Commercial Burglary x2 and Felony Criminal Mischief x2 with a bond amount totaling $12,000 with a zero bond parole hold placed.  2 warrants were also served.  CLICK HERE for that aggravated robbery story.
