All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Garland County Sheriff’s Investigator J. Crow reports that deputies with his department were dispatched for the call of a shooting that had taken place January 10, 2021, around noon, at Motel 6 on Lookout Point.
Deputies arrived and located the victim who had been shot in the leg. The victim said that his brother, Eryk Kent Prater, 39, of Marion Anderson Road in Garland County, shot him and then departed the scene in a red Ford Taurus.
Inv. Crow obtained information which suggests that the suspect went to his mother’s house to do laundry prior to the shooting. A firearm was noticed to be missing from the residence after he departed. Other information obtained indicated that the brothers had been staying in the motel room for approximately 9 days before the shooting took place.
Inv. Crow obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Prater and entered it into the police computer.
The next day, Mr. Prater came to the sheriff’s department. He was arrested on the felony warrant and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.
He is charged with Felony Domestic Battery and bond was set at $50,000
