All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police report that they had officers on patrol in the area of Buena Vista Road last night around 7PM when an unlicensed Ford Ranger came across their radar screen. The officer turned on the blue lights and stopped the truck.
Officers made contact with the driver, Drago Rakich, 57, of Pinehill Road in Garland County. During the course of the meeting, Mr. Rakich said that his driver’s license was in suspended status and was further unable to produce any paperwork for the vehicle.
Mr. Rakich’s pertinents were checked through the police computer. The check revealed that his license was indeed suspended and that he was wanted out of Garland County for Failure To Appear in court. The check also indicated that he has 18 previous driving on suspended DL charges.
Mr. Rakich was arrested and the truck was searched. During the search, officers located a meth pipe and an Arkansas Dealer License Plate. After some checking, it was determined that the dealer plate had been reported stolen out of Little Rock and the Ford Ranger (approximate value $22,000) had just been stolen from Riser Ford and not yet reported.
Mr. Rakich was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Theft By Receiving, Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft By Receiving and Driving On A Suspended Driver’s License with bond set at $7,250. The Failure To Appear warrant was also served.
