All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Lieutenant Patrick was on patrol in the area of Greenwood Cemetery last week when he spotted a blue vehicle that he intended to conduct a traffic stop on.
He activated the blue lights and the vehicle allegedly fled from him. It was a short pursuit that only lasted until the suspect vehicle boarded the railroad tracks possibly around 3rd Street and tried to getaway Westbound via the tracks. The Lt. did not pursue down the tracks, but rather, had other patrol officers go to the railroad tracks on 7th Street in an attempt to get in front of the fleeing vehicle.
Very soon after boarding the tracks, the vehicle went out of sight. The vehicle did not appear on 7th Street as planned. Officers that responded to the tracks on 7th Street got out and walked the tracks Eastbound along the tracks where the suspect car should be. They didn’t have to walk too far before discovering the vehicle abandoned on the tracks. It is unknown which direction the suspect(s) fled on foot.
The vehicle was searched and a wrecker was called to remove the vehicle from the tracks.
