All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Detective Rines investigated a theft case in December 2018 involving identity fraud.
The victim reported to HSPD that his banking information had been used to pay for a cell phone bill in Hot Springs. He provided paperwork showing where he was responsible for paying $651.24 charge that he had not authorized.
Det. Rines filed the proper court papers to obtain what he needed from the wireless carrier. The name allegedly associated with this charge was Nakia Lonette Welch, 36, of Spring Street in Hot Springs.
The police report says that the victim does not know the suspect and that there is no reason that she should have his banking info.
A warrant was sought and obtained for the arrest of Ms. Welch. On January 15, 2019, Garland County Sheriff’s Detention Corporal Hall served the warrant and arrested Ms. Welch at the Garland County Detention Center. Ms. Welch was escorted into the next room for processing.
Ms. Welch is charged with Felony Financial Identity Fraud with a bond amount of $3,500.
