Hot Springs Police Officer Larkin reports that he responded to the corner of Market Street and Prospect Avenue on January 4 around 10:47 pm in reference to a car crash that had just occurred with a marked Arkansas State Parks Patrol Unit.

Ofc. Larkin arrived on scene and made contact with Dylan Abbott, 29, of Prospect Avenue in Hot Springs, who said he was at fault and that he ran the stop sign on Market Street and hit the State Parks Patrol Unit.

Mr. Abbott had red bloodshot eyes and smelled of intoxicants. Ofc. Larkin asked Mr. Abbott how much he had been drinking and Mr. Abbott said that he had about four to five rum and cokes at a bar down the street. There was also an empty flask in Mr. Abbott’s jacket, but he said that he had not been drinking from it that night.

Mr. Abbott performed standardized field sobriety testing and lost his balance multiple times. Mr. Abbott was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center. Mr. Abbott agreed to take a breathalyzer test but couldn’t provide a proper breath sample after attempting it four times.

Mr. Abbott is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal To Submit To A Chemical Test, and Disobeying A Stop Sign. His bond was set at $1,000.
