Alleged: Dealing Dope While On Parole For Dealing Dope; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Officers report that they were on patrol September 17, 2020, around 4PM, when they noticed a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle in an earlier drive by shooting.  They stopped the white Chevrolet Malibu and made contact with the driver.

James Anthony Barron, 25, of Candleberry Circle in Garland County, gave officers his driver’s license.  He also handed over a bag of marijuana.  Mr. Barron’s pertinents were checked through the police computer.  The check revealed that he was currently on parole with a search waiver on file.

At this point, Parolee Barron ran away on foot.  Officers searched the vehicle.  During the search, they found: a stolen Glock 9mm pistol, several baggies of marijuana (totaling 95.2 grams) packaged for individual sale and a digital scale.

Parolee Barron was convicted of Felony Possession Of A Firearm By Certain Persons and Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance With Intent To Deliver in Ouachita County 2018.  Convicted felons shall not possess firearms in Arkansas.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Parolee Barron and it was entered into the police computer.

HSPD Officers caught up with Parolee Barron at the Garland County Detention Center on January 13, 2021, around 10PM and served the warrant.  Parolee Barron is charged with Felony Simultaneous Possession Of Firearms And Drugs, Felony Possession Of A Firearm By Certain Persons, Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance With Intent To Deliver, Felony Theft By Receiving Firearm and Fleeing with bond set at $205,000 and a parole hold was placed on him.
