All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Arkansas State Trooper Smedley reports that he was on patrol in the area of Highway 27 at Sweet Home Road on August 10, 2021, around 5PM, when he found a blue, Chevrolet Impala being operated on public roads with a cracked windshield. He got behind the Impala and noticed that it was traveling faster than the speed limit. Trp. Smedley turned on the blue lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
As he approached the driver of the Impala, the driver tossed a cigarette from the car onto the pavement. Trp. Smedley identified him as Gary L. Dean, 50, of Oak Street in Nashville and advised him of the litter law. Mr. Dean became very argumentative and he was arrested.
During the vehicle inventory, Trp. Smedley located a metal grinder a glass meth pipe with residue and a digital scale with meth residue.
Mr. Dean was transported to the Pike County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia and was released in compliance with COVID directives.
