Alleged: Attempted Shooting..Stolen Gun Misfires; Felony Arrest

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Officers West and Moore report that they were dispatched to the 100 Block of Palmetto Street in reference to a threat complaint last night around 11:30PM.

Dispatchers advised officers responding to this call that the suspect (the father of the victim’s child) had threatened the caller with a firearm then got into a dark colored vehicle.

Officers arrived to find a black Chevrolet Tahoe parked on the street across from where the threat occurred.  Officers conducted a felony traffic stop on the Tahoe.  Deshon Javonte Woodfork, 25, of Lily Ruth Court in Hot Springs, and Eric Charles Mitchell, Jr., 27, of parts unknown, a loaded and chambered .45 caliber pistol and 7 Xanax pills were found to be inside the Tahoe.  Both suspects were arrested.

Eric Charles Mitchell, Jr., 27, of parts unknown – picked up on a Failure To Appear Warrant.

Mr. Mitchell’s pertinents were run through the police computer.  The check revealed that he had at least 1  valid arrest warrant out on him.

Mr. Woodfork’s (the father of the victim’s child) pertinents were run through the police computer.  The check revealed that he is a triple convicted felon from 2013, and 2 dates in 2016.  The pistol was found in the area he occupied inside the Tahoe at the time of the stop.  Convicted felons are prohibited from possessing firearms in the state of Arkansas.

The pistol’s pertinents were run through the police computer.  The check revealed that this Smith & Wesson Springfield MA .45 caliber pistol was reported stolen out of Georgia.

Both suspects were transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.

Mr. Woodfork is charged with Felony Aggravated Assault On Household Or Family Member, Felony Theft By Receiving Firearm, Felony Possession Of Firearm By Certain Persons and Possession Of Xanax with an initial no bond hold.

Mr. Mitchell is charged with Failure To Appear and was being held with no bond.
