Hot Springs Police Corporal Rostan and Sergeant Lenox report the following:
On 08-23-19 at approximately 1705 hours, I, Sgt. Lenox, observed a white Dodge Ram courtesy pickup from Riser Dodge fail to yield to a stop sign at Cypressvale and Robinwood St.
I activated my lights and the vehicle cut through the Garland County Library parking lot and went north on Malvern at a high rate of speed. I terminated my lights and contacted dispatch in reference to the vehicle. I observed the vehicle cross over into the southbound traffic and then wreck out at the northwest corner of E. Maurice and Malvern. A b/m (later identified as Christopher Fugate) wearing a white jumpsuit fled on foot from the driver side of the vehicle south on Gaines.
Fugate ran behind a church at Gaines and Lemons and I advised him to stop. He refused and I went back around to the front of the church. He was taken into custody just south of the church in an open field.
I, Cpl. Rostan assisted Sgt. Lenox with the arrest of Christopher Fugate. I arrived on scene as Fugate was being placed into custody. After Fugate was placed into custody, I went back to the vehicle he was in. I then inventoried the vehicle for tow and located a large backpack in the front passenger’s floor with a small baggie of marijuana under the backpack, and a large ziplock style bag with marijuana next to the backpack. The total weight of the suspected marijuana was approximately 2.99 pounds broken down in approximately 12 baggies. Upon inventory of the backpack, multiple packages of marijuana were located in the bag along with a black set of digital scales. Also in the bag, a Glock 19, 9MM pistol, the pistol had one round in the chamber and an additional 26 round magazine. An ACIC check revealed that the Glock was stolen out of the Hot Springs Police Department. In the door pocket of the front passenger’s door, a silver set of digital scales was located. Fugate had $2,995 in cash on his person.
A criminal history check of Fugate showed him to be a convicted felon as of 01/16/15 and on federal probation.
