Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Corporal Hunter reports the following:
Cpl. Hunter was on patrol in the 4500 Block of Highway 270 West last Monday around 1PM when he decided to check on a motorcycle rider that had pulled his 1999 Honda Shadow motorcycle over and parked at the side of the road.
The motorcycle rider saw the deputy pull up and he fled Eastbound on the motorcycle. GCSO Sergeant House was sitting up the road at Don’s County Butcher Shop when he saw the fleeing motorcycle pass several vehicles in a no passing zone. Sgt. House followed the motorcycle as it illegally passed other vehicles including an 18-wheeler on hills and curves. The motorcycle turned onto West Pine Drive, fled down to Hunter Drive and crashed into a mailbox. The suspect got up, ran behind a residence and jumped a fence.
The suspect ran back around to the front of the house and was arrested. The suspect told deputies that he had marijuana in his bag. During a search of the suspect and his belongings, deputies located 26 grams of marijuana, 58 Xanax pills, 4 Hydrocodone pills, numerous small baggies, a digital scale, 4 .380 cal bullets and a fully loaded .380 cal pistol magazine.
Arkansas State Police Sergeant Steed found a .380 cal pistol in the backyard of the residence the suspect ran behind.
Wesley Waide Hughes, 31, of Cloverfield Lane in Pearcy, was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Simultaneous Possession Of Drugs And Firearms, Felony Possession Of Firearms By Certain Persons, Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance With Purpose To Deliver x2, Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Reckless Driving, Improper Passing x2 and No Insurance with a bond amount totaling $65,000.
