All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Officer Rushing reports that officers with his department were on patrol December 21, 2020, around 11PM when they saw a gold 2001 Honda Accord driving fast on Pakis Street. The vehicle fit the description of a breaking or entering suspect vehicle that they were aware of.
Officers found the Honda driving slowly behind buildings with it’s lights off. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle was displaying a license plate that returned to a grey Nissan Altima and upon contact with the driver, he lied about his name. While talking with the driver, officers saw a long gun behind the driver’s seat. They had the driver exit the vehicle.
Officers were able to determine that this suspect was wanted Absconding Parolee Doniel Montreal Oliver, 29, of Albert Pike Road in Hot Springs. He was arrested and the vehicle was searched.
The search revealed that the parolee was in possession of 3 used meth pipes, an electronic scale and a loaded sawed off shotgun. Parolee Oliver is a convicted felon and, by law, is prohibited from being in possession of firearms.
Parolee Oliver was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Criminal Use Of Prohibited Weapons, Felony Possession Of Firearm By Certain Persons, Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Obstructing Governmental Operations with bond set at $18,000 and a parole hold placed.
