Evidence at the scene suggested that the eastbound minivan crossed the center line in a curve, exited the left side of the pavement and struck a large tree head-on.  A pet was killed in the crash.

Morning Star Fire & Rescue Troops responded very quickly.  MSFD Captain Thompson said that he was the first 911 responder to arrive and that  the vehicle was already fully involved when he arrived.

LifeNet dispatched 2 Ambulance Crews, their Air Crew and The National Park Medical Center’s Survival Flight.  The 2 patients were shuttled by ambulance from the scene to the landing zone, which was in a field approximately 1/2 mile up the road.

Arkansas State Police and Rockport Police assisted as needed.

Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 1 hour.
